IAN SCOTT

As Dubai’s summer season draws to a close, we’ve seen more and more families recognise the emirate as a place guaranteed to keep kids amused and parents pampered, excited and enthralled. I’ve just received our Q2 visitor statistics, and I’m very pleased to announce that year on year there’s been a 3% growth in UK visitors to the Emirate!

Thanks to this, and a slew of new openings in the emirate, confidence in the tourism/ hotel industry is being steadily renewed. The Q2 results give every indication that tourists will continue to flock to Dubai.

This month we’re taking a look at one of Dubai’s coolest new openings – the Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel. Located in burgeoning ‘New Dubai’, this is the first of a four-hotel development programme that will bring over 1,000 bedrooms to the emirate. To celebrate the opening, Mövenpick is offering you the chance to win a four-night stay at the Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel – one of Dubai’s most fantastically located new properties.

As usual Dubai is leading the way in the biggest, most brilliant and even bizarre attractions for tourists, and in this issue of UPdate we focus on a few of them. Fish spa, anyone?!
