Despite the current economic climate, the UN World Tourism Organisation has predicted that the number of tourists to the Middle East will more than double by 2020 – great news for Dubai. This will take the number of visitors to the region to 136 million, up from 54 million last year, with Dubai aiming to attract 15 million visitors a year by 2015. The recovery is in line with the global tourism industry, which is predicted to be now over the worst and back on track by 2010.When things do pick up, Dubai’s infrastructure and amazing developments are sure to keep tourists flocking back for more.

The world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, The Dubai Mall, has seen an amazing 30 million visitors through its doors in less than one year of its opening. Fashionistas have been tempted by the amazing array of shops, which include designer brands and affordable outlets. A host of new developments within the mall have also contributed to its success. Families love the new entertainment precinct; the Dubai Fountain appeals to couples and kids will go crazy for KidZania, Sega Republic, the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo and Dubai Ice Rink. Nasser Rafi, CEO, said: “Apart from being part of every tourist’s itinerary in Dubai, the mall has lent momentum to the retail dynamic of the city”. Sights and sounds from around the world are all part of one ‘village’ in Dubai, from November to February. The Global Village, in Dubailand, is a favourite cultural, entertainment and shopping complex. Celebrating cultural diversity, it has rented pavilion spaces to display and sell products ranging from food to handicrafts from all corners of the world. Saeed Ali Bin Reda, project director said: “In addition to the regular must-visit attractions, the venue will feature a number of unique offerings that will make each visit to the Global Village a compelling family outing.” If last year’s event, that hosted 35 countries, is anything to go by its sure to be a success. By the end of February 2009, a massive 4.4 million visitors enjoyed The Global Village over 102 days.

What makes a truly spectacular dinner? Great food, great company and jaw-dropping views!
