This year’s World Travel Market comes at a crucial time for the travel industry as the current economic climate raises some important questions for travel and tourism. The industry continues to be a valuable contributor to the global economy, providing significant benefits to many countries as a result of integrated tourism strategies, such as regeneration and stability.
Entrepreneurial Dubai is an excellent example of this success with the tourism industry taking giant leaps forward to position Dubai as a major contender within the international tourism community.
We firmly believe that world tourism will rise to the challenge, as it has always done in the past. And to demonstrate Dubai’s solidarity and commitment to driving growth in tourism, this year at WTM we will host the largest ever contingent of representatives from Dubai’s hospitality, travel and tourism sectors. This significant delegation is here with one purpose, to welcome and support our UK and international trade partners and cement business relationships.
I wish all the participants good business here in London, and assure you of the ongoing support and commitment of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing to the growth of tourism in Dubai.
Khalid A Bin Sulayem,
Director General of the DTCM |
