Welcome to your January newsletter, courtesy of Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, bringing the latest updates and fresh developments from the emirate.
As we reflect back over last year there are many positives to celebrate, such as the Dubai Metro opening on time and the completion of the Burj Khalifa. Furthermore, the revised UAE Company Law is now in its final draft, and is sure to have a positive effect on the economy as it proposes to allow single ownership of limited liability companies.
That said, there is no doubt that 2009 was a tough year especially with the news of the financial restructuring of Dubai World. However, the indications are that we have now seen the worst, and we have every reason to be confident about 2010. Dubai has built a reputation on trading and has, throughout history, been a regional commercial hub. A combination of location, entrepreneurship and a knowledge-based diversified economy will see it maintain its important position in the region and on the world’s stage.
